Forty two years ago Wednesday (July 17, 1982), "Don't You Want Me" by the Human League was the #1 song in the USA for its last of three weeks. It went on to become 1982's #8 song. At #16, was "Even The Nights Are Better" as Air Supply was featured for replacing the Little River Band as the top Aussie band. "Always On My Mind" was at #28 as Mark told the story of how Willie Nelson slept in Abe Lincoln's bed, jogged with Jimmy Carter and sang "Amazing Grace" with Carter on stage. Also, "Heat Of The Moment" by Asia was at #24 and its label, Geffen, was tied in to the story of how David Geffen retired at the age of 33 on the advice of Paul Simon. *** Forty seven years ago Tuesday (July 16, 1977), "Da Doo Ron Ron" by Shaun Cassidy became the new #1 single in the USA. It only stayed there for a week and it was a disappointing #53 single fo...
